Singing a song like this one is a great way to start your Bible classes. It’s easy to learn and simple enough for any age to sing. It has a bright and appealing melody. It mentions the reason we come to class and reminds us of the proper result. It signals that pre-class activities are finished and that it’s time to settle down to hear the lesson. Welcome to Bible Class indeed!

The song teaches kids about going to Bible class. But there is a message here for teachers, too:

“Welcome to Bible class” reminds us that the time set aside is intended for Bible class—for teaching God’s Word. Just last week mention was made of a group who didn’t like the material they had been given, so they gave up and were merely baby-sitting. What a waste of time! Make sure you are fulfilling the name of the session by filling the hearts of your students with the Bible.

“It’s a wonderful place to be.” Bible class should be an appealing and inviting space with a friendly and open teacher. Do you make the effort to know the bodies in your room as people and not just students? Beyond that, does your presentation promote the attraction inherent in the Word? God’s Word is a living book. It contains a distinctive message that draws people to God. Do you believe that? If so, are you creating a wonderful place for your students to learn it, too?

“Welcome to Bible class”—repetition is a most effective teacher!

“It’s the place for you and me!” Sports, school activities, music and drama lessons, and on and on the list goes. Our lives—and our students’ lives—are so full of things to do and places to go. We must constantly remind our students that Bible class is the right place to be every time it meets. But remember that having a “wonderful place to be” speaks louder than even the most well-loved song!

“Read God’s Word.” You may choose to read an account directly or you may tell the Bible story interspersed with reading verses. An open Bible on the table should make it obvious that the lesson is coming from the text.

“..and sing…” Singing is a powerful teaching tool. Most of us learned the ABCs and books of the New Testament through song. Singing appeals to us on a deeper and different level than the spoken word. Learn and/or write fun, exciting, and appropriate songs and then use this easy and incredible tool often!

“…and pray…” Every Bible class includes God talking to us through His Word. How vital it is to teach our students to talk to Him! Make sure to follow the principles of male leadership in mixed groups even in the younger classes. It starts them out right.

“Learn His will and then obey.” Bible class is more than just the facts, ma’am. It is a time where we help our students—no matter what the age—learn to live according to God’s Word.

“Welcome to Bible class today!” Are you glad to see your students? Do they know it?
